Summer Fashion Design Course
ages 8-12
Fashion Design Course I

AGES 8-12

2 4-week sessions, June 11-July 2/July 16-Aug 6
Thursdays      1-2:30 p.m.

Tuition:
$98/for 4 weeks
(includes ALL materials)

This course runs for four weeks, and will allow students to learn the ins and outs of fashion design, using 2-D materials, as well as 3-D.

Students start by learning how to draw a "croquis"
(fashion figure drawing). This will be the template to create
their own fashion designs, embellished with real fabric
and DIY accessories--a fun mixed media way to explore fashion design without sewing or garment construction.

Students' imagination will lead the way, but the course will also provide some fashion knowledge, including types of garments, fashion history, and ways to conceptualize a "fashion line."

WITH ENOUGH INTEREST, A SECOND SESSION OF THIS COURSE MAY BE OFFERED JULY 17-AUGUST 7.
Fashion Design Course II
(Fashion Design Course I is a prerequisite)

AGES 8-12
4-weeks, June 12-July 3
Fridays 1-2:30 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: A SECOND SESSION OF THIS COURSE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE

Tuition:
$98/for 4 weeks
(includes MOST materials)

This course runs for four weeks, and will allow students to take what they've learned in Fashion Design I a step further: work with fabric and learn (hand) sewing techniques to construct garments.

Like in the first course, students will also
be able to create embellishments and accessories, as well as learn fashion basics, including types of garments, fashion history, and ways to conceptualize a "fashion line."

Most materials will be provided, but before the series begins (and possibly during), students will need to go to a fabric store with mom or dad and pick out specific types of fabric and get it cut. For students who are into fashion, this will likely be fun, but the course will require this level of preparation and independence. (Specific information regarding the fabric will be emailed to students once they officially register for the course.)

WITH ENOUGH INTEREST, A SECOND SESSION OF THIS COURSE MAY BE OFFERED JULY 17-AUGUST 7.
